A Game of Frostgrave
Looking for a bit of a simpler tabletop mini game than Warhammer to play with my wife, I stumbled accross Frostgrave and even though the game had been out for ages, I hadn't really seen much about it.
With the rulebook temproarily available online, I had a quick look through and then researched a bit more through Youtube vids until I had a fair idea of how to play.
With heaps of minis and a few quick paints of some zoo animals, it was time to give it a shot.
Robyn put together a band with an Elementalist and apprentice Noah, hiring a barbarian named Arnie, treasure hunter, apocathary, 2 thugs (one named Sluggers) and 3 ratling theives. At the start of the game, Father Christmas (the wizard) summoned an "ice toad" crocodile named Snappy
I started with an Illusionist named Fentanyl and his apprecntice Fabio, hiring a barbarian named Dolph, a dragon-breed warhound, 2 archers, 2 thugs and 2 dwarven thieves.
With the main treasure in the centre and the other 4 positioned around the map, it was time to start, with Father Christmas moving his band through the snowy landscape, thugs and barbarian in the lead and providing cover. The wizard attempts to cast a Storm but fails. His apprentice Noah succeeds.
Meanwhile, the treasure hunter and ratling thieves expertly pick the locked gate and move through with barely a footprint left in the snow.
Fentanyl teleports to the centre treasure and the archers split left and right.
Noah enlivens the storm to a blizzard like gale.

The warhound dragon-breed sights the thug and runs at him while one of the archers protects the treasure barrel and barbarian makes a move on the side treasure crate.
A few failed spells later and Fentanyl grabs the main treasure and makes off with it.
This triggers the roaming monster spawn, and a white gorilla shuffles onto the scene behind Father Christmas. The Elementalist casts a massive fireball that instantly incinerates the poor creature, tuning him into a black gorilla.
Arnie the barbarian and Sluggers the Thug move to intercept Dolph the barbarian before he can get to the crate. On the other side the archer and dwarven thieves move up to take the treasure from the wizard Fentanyl so that he may cast spells.
The transfer is made and the apprentice, thug and archer sprint to the middle to gain control.
The dwarven theif claims a treasure and turns around to take it off the table from whence he came.

One of the Elementalists' thugs runs to meet the dragon-breed warhound and smashes his war-pick through the animal's skull in a single blow.
With the archer barely wonding Arnie the barbarian, he meets his rival and decaiptates him in one blow.
It was at this stage that we wondered were we playing things correctly, only to discover we were not adding the armour values properly and continued play with the adjustments.

The treasure hunter, ratling thieves and Noah the apprentice snuck past the mausoleum and one of the thieves climbed the wall and claimed a treasure, being hit in the ear by n arrow fired frim the archer.
The crate was also claimed by Arnie and the archer under the trees decided to grab his barrel and run. This trigged the spawning of 2 zombies near the treasure hunter and a snow leopard in the path of the theif who had just grabbed the main treasure from the wizard.
The ratling thieves and the archer battle it out on the steps of a ruined portal till in a brutal dagger fight till the archer finally succumbs to his wounds. The apocathary sprints over to the victor to give him a healing potion.
Sanppy the crocodile was sent in to deal with the zombies and ate both of them.
The apprentice Noah casts a fireball at Fentanyl and roasts him within 2 points of health.

The snow leaopard mauled the thief and then turned his gaze to Fentanyl who, still a little bit on fire, fumbles the words of Control Animal so badly due to his panic that he causes himself to have an aneurism and promptly dies.
The dwarven theif escapes the leopard and flees with his treasure off the table.
Fabio attempts to cast Fools Gold on Sluggers the thug but fails terribly, causing himself a nosebleed.
Attepting once more, he fails again and makes his ears bleed as well.
Sluggers makes it off the table with the treasure.
A fight breaks out between the last archer and Arnie the barbarian and the archer is downed.
With Fentanyl dead and the rest of the party maimed, wounded or dead, Father Christmas claims the main treasure and the remaining 3 treasures. He now looks to purchase a mainstay at the edge of the city with which to carry out more raids.
The dwarven theif, now with no war party left to give the treasure to, claims it as his own and retires in a well-to-do villa by the sea.
